Alliance for People Powered Transportation
The Alliance for People Powered Transportation is promoting Bike-to-Work Week from May 17-21, 2010 and Bike-to-Work Day on Friday, May 21, 2010.
Clean air, exercise, a healthy planet, spending less money, living a joyful life....what's your reason for cycling? On Friday, May 21st, we'll celebrate all of these. There'll be events all week, stay tuned for event details!
Not sure about commuter cycling? Need some tips for how to get started, or how to make it more fun? Click here for helpful tips for commuters. Also, check out the local bus schedule here, and bus route maps here and consider a hybrid commute. All Gold Country Stage buses are equipped with bicycle racks on the front of the bus and can accommodate two bicycles per bus.

Trail Tuesday's (On Tuesday May 18th and 25th): There will be THREE “Golden Tickets” located along one of the many bicycle and pedestrian pathways or trails connecting our two communities each of these Tuesdays. Find a ticket and redeem a fabulous prize! No kidding!
Walking Wednesday's: Leave the car and bicycle at home! Walk with your child to school, walk to work, walk to the grocery store. Think you’re too far to walk? Then take public transit and to get closer to your destination. Write a story about your walking adventure and send it to APPT (nevcoappt@gmail.com) the most creative and interesting stories wins fabulous prizes!

Car Free Commuter Friday’s: Log your total miles in for Bike Month and Bike to Work Week, become eligible to win fantastic prizes at the Bike to Work Celebration on Friday May 21st at the Briar Patch Community Market!
Company Commuter Challenge: Local business and company contest, the company that logs in the most “Car Free” employee miles commuted from May 17 to May 21 (Bike to Work Week) will be awarded the “APPT Company Challenge Award” and free lunch for up to 10 employees from your restaurant here.
The Bicycle Passport to Nevada County Contest is an event to encourage everyone to go about their normal daily errands without their car, while encouraging creativity and requiring fun.
MARS Clinics: Feeling the spirit but not quite the skills? We can help you gain the comfort level needed to safely begin commuting on your bicycle.Maintenance and Rider Skills clinics are being held at the Briar Patch Community Market on Wednesday May 12th and again on Wednesday May 19th from 3pm to 5pm, no registration is necessary.

What is an Energy Station?
We’ll be out there with that little extra bit of love to keep you rolling. Energy Station volunteers cheer on people riding bicycles around Nevada County. Each station provides free snacks, fresh pastries, coffee and refreshments courtesy of Summer Thyme’s, Briar Patch Market and Grass Valley Florist & Cruz Thru Coffee Shop!
