What is APPT ?

Mission

  • To make walking and bicycling a part of daily life in western Nevada County

Purpose

  • To improve the health and happiness of our community
  • To increasing the level of physical activity in our daily lives
  • To reconnect people to their neighborhoods, community, and environment
  • To increase transportation connections between communities
  • To reduce our adverse impact on our natural resources and environment

Objectives

  • To increase walking and bicycling through advocacy and education.
  • To make walking and bicycling safer through education and infrastructure improvements
  • To increase the number of children that walk/bicycle by incorporating this activity into their daily routine
  • To provide access to bicycles for those who do not have them
  • To help local governments incorporate walking/bicycling in all transportation and land use decisions
  • To advocate creation of sidewalks, pathways, and bikeways
  • To promote ongoing improvements and routine maintenance of facilities and infrastructure
  • To advocate walking and bicycling links to public transit
